Michael Jack Owen

Michael Jack Owen, age 46, passed away on December 23, 2023, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Born on November 9, 1977, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Frances Elaine Owen.

A proud graduate of Midway High School in Council Hill, Michael's education laid the foundation for a career characterized by hard work and reliability. He was a welder by trade and currently he worked as a packaging operator for CP Kelco in Okmulgee, where he was respected by his colleagues for his commitment and friendly demeanor.

Michael's passions extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid outdoorsman who found solace and joy in the simplicity of nature. Fishing and hunting were not just hobbies but a way of life for him, providing cherished moments and stories that he would share with anyone who had a moment to listen. Above all, Michael's greatest joy was found in the time he spent with his children and grandchild. Each moment with them was treasured, and he instilled in them the same love for the great outdoors that he held so dear.

Michael was preceded in death by his loving mother and his grandparents, Washington and Wanell Owen.

His legacy continues through his four children, Caleigh Gay of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Michael Owen of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Emily Mumford of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Colton Mumford, also of Ardmore. His life was further blessed with the joy of his grandson, Lucas Owen of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Michael's brothers, Rodger Sorrels of Okmulgee and Stephen Johnson, along with his wife Maria of Texas, and his sister from Hitchita, Oklahoma, will hold dear the memories they shared.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Old Midway High School Gymnasium in Council Hill.
