Aleta Jane Whittington

Aleta (Jane) Whittington was born January 31, 1950 in Plainview, south of Henryetta to Edwin H. (Bo) Britt and Louise Smith Britt. She passed away, Friday, February 18, 2011 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma at the age of 61. Aleta attended Tiger Mountain, Pierce and Dewar Public Schools. She married Connie Gene Simmons September 10, 1968 and was married 19 years. She married Ron Whittington September 7, 1996. She worked as a Health Care Provider and also custodian at Anchor Glass Company. She had also worked at Bono Nursing Home and Volunteers of America. Aleta had no children, but was a mother to many. She was an aunt and an uncle. She was as tough as her brothers so her nephews and nieces called her Uncle Aleta. She was her sister's angel. She was also Jackie's "Almina". She is preceded in death by a niece, Alishia K. Britt, her mother, Louise Britt, Grandparents, Bud & Minnie Britt, and Bill & Sallie Smith. She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Ron Whittington of Wetumka Father & Mother, Bo & Dot Britt of Henryetta 3 brothers, Mann Britt & wife Sheri of Beggs, Oklahoma Vernon Britt & wife Yvette of Mounds, Oklahoma Ernie Britt & wife Diane of Coalton, Oklahoma 1 sister, Janie Britt Adams & husband Don of Sallisaw, Oklahoma Best friend, Judy Russell God children, Bernon Dee Russell, Jr., Anita Branum and Bonnie Handcock She always called one nephew her "Boy", Gary Wayne Britt Nephews, Vernon Britt, Jr, Manuel Britt, Matthew Wooten, Kyle Britt, Colt Britt, Nieces, Terrie Dawn Moore, Kendell Britt, Jennifer Wooten, Shannon McNabb, Crystal Mayhew Britt, Danielle Larney, & her "rainbow", Alivia Louise Wooten Aleta loved her dogs, gardening and flowers. She loved to cut grass and her yard work. She was the best cook, especially her carrot cake for Don Adams and her beans for her Dad. Aleta loved to fish, go camping and She "loved" life. Pallbearers will be, Gary Wayne Britt, Vernon Britt, Jr., Matthew Wooten, Colt Britt, Kyle Britt, & Ray Anderson. Honorary pallbearer will be Manuel Britt. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Becky Watkins & Rev. Suzie Stephens, officiating. Interment will follow in New Sonora Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
