Betty Jean Chisum

December 10, 1943 — February 14, 2015

Betty Jean Chisum, a longtime Okmulgee county resident and current Sand Springs resident, passed from this life on Saturday, February 14th, 2015 in Tulsa at the age of 71. Betty was born in Checotah, Oklahoma on December 10, 1943 to Clarence Sullivan and Mildred Cantrell Sullivan. Betty grew up in the Okmulgee and Morris area. She attended grade school in Okmulgee and Morris but graduated from Morris High School. She later attended Okmulgee Tech. Betty married Vernie Carl Chisum on July 18, 1964 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. They remained happily married for 50 years. Betty worked in the banking business at Bank of Oklahoma for approximately 34 years before her retirement in 2009. Betty loved gardening and being outdoors. She also enjoyed sewing and crafting and was an accomplished cook. Betty loved her family dearly and she will be missed by many, many people. Betty is preceded in death by her mother and her father. She is survived by her husband, Vernie Chisum of the home in Sand Springs; her aunt, Alice Miner of Seminole, Oklahoma; and by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other extended family and many good friends. Viewing for Betty will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Integrity Funeral Service from 3pm to 8pm. Funeral services for Betty will be conducted on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 2:00pm at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Tim Estes officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Council Hill Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Johnny Lee, Scott Osburn, Scott Inbody, Clay Stewart, Glen Barnett, Troy Barnett and Josh Jackson.
