Bill Langston, a resident of Checotah, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 29, 2011 in Henryetta, OK at the age of 74. Bill was born on August 22, 1937 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Melba Campbell and G.W. Langston. As a child, Bill grew up and lived near Bearden, Oklahoma. He later moved to Bakersfield, California with his family. He attended school in Bakersfield and graduated from high school there. Bill returned to Oklahoma in the late 1960's and was employed for several years with Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Henryetta. Bill later worked as an x-ray specialist on the Alaskan Pipeline. He also worked in south America for several years in the same capacity. Bill retired from his X-ray position and began working as a pipeline inspector in his capacity with Tulsa Inspection Resources, where he worked until his last retirement. Bill was a long-time member of the Allen Freewill Baptist Church and was also a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. Bill is preceded in death by both his mother and his father and by an uncle, Lyndal Campbell. He is survived by his close friend and life partner, Carolyn Bowman of Checotah; a son, Greg Langston of Grover City, CA; two daughters, Lori Harding of Visalia, CA and Lana McGee and husband Owen, also of Visalia, CA; a sister, Linda Adams and husband Gerald of Bakersfield, CA; by 3 nephews, Kurt Sons of Bakersfield, CA, Mark Sons of Bakersfield, CA and Lantz Sons of Austin, TX; an aunt, Bess Melton and husband Bill of Stallion Springs, CA; an aunt, Mona Campbell of Bearden; an uncle, Joel Langston of Tehachapi, CA; by 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Viewing and visitation will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Tuesday, from 11am to 8pm, on Wednesday from 8am to 8pm, and on Thursday from 8am to 11am. Pallbearers will be Miles Herndon, Jake Patterson, Jackson Presley, Bobby Ray Patterson, William Bowman and Shawn Kramer. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Bowman, Bob Patterson, Randall Lorrett, Richard Kramer, Tony Southern, Richard Larney, and Bobby Fuller. Funeral Services for Bill will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Allen Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Jennings, Rev. Payne, and Rev. John Tottress officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Likowski Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
