Billy Joe Mcgarr

Shurden Funeral Home 411 West Division Street Henryetta, OK 74437 (918) 652-4461 Fax (918) 652-4451 Billy Joe McGarr, a longtime resident of Weleetka, passed from this life on October 1, 2012 in his Weleetka home, at the age of 86 years. Billy was born on January 11, 1926 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Joe L. McGarr and Mildred Lee Hester McGarr. Billy grew up in this area. He married the love of his life, Wanda Lou Wilcox on April 13, 1945 in Weleetka. They remained happily married until her death on March 12, 1996. Billy attended Okmulgee Tech where he earned an associate degree. He spent the majority of his working life as a missle systems analyst at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, OK. After retiring from his Tinker position, he spent countless hours working in service to his community by helping to maintain the property at Weleetka Hillcrest Cemetery. Billy is preceded in death by his mother and his father; by his wife, Wanda; and by a sister, Haroldeane Parsons. He is survived by his daughter, Sana Jo Harvey and husband Steve Harvey of Dening, New Mexico; a grandson, Joe Mancino and wife Jill of Austin, Texas; and by two great grandchildren, Charles Mancino and Allison Mancino, both of Austin, Texas. A private Graveside Funeral Service was held at 2pm on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weleetka under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations to your favorite charity be made in Billy's name to serve as the appropriate memorial contribution.
