Caroline May Tiger

Caroline May O'Neal Tiger, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Born on May 15, 1947, in Ft. Washakie, Wyoming, Caroline was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.

Caroline was a graduate of Chilocco Indian School in Newkirk, Oklahoma, where she developed a lifelong love for learning and personal growth. Her interests included spending quality time with her family, attending her grandchildren's activities and events, sewing, and cooking for her loved ones. Caroline's kindness, faith, and loving nature were evident in every aspect of her life, making her a cherished member of her community.

Throughout her life, Caroline was surrounded by a loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Matthew Johnson Tiger; her son, Terry Tiger; her daughter, Zoelynn Olea, and son-in-law, Teodoro Olea; her grandchildren, Chasity Tiger, Tyler Crenshaw, Damon Gunn, Justin Gunn, Jr., Darius Tiger, Brenay Tiger, Renae Tiger, Ayleah Powell, River Landsdale, Topley Powell, Jess Waterdown, Jr., and Courtney Hall; her great-grandchildren, Maya Tiger, Alaina LaSarge, Sierra LaSarge, Tahlee Tiger, and Hazel Mae Landsdale; and her brother in law, George Tiger and sister-in-law, Frances Tiger.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick O'Neal and Carrie Friday O'Neal; her siblings, Donald O'Neal, Emil O'Neal, Bernice Jenkins, Marjorie Peggy Bell, Josephine Shakespeare, Katherine Corpuz, and Daniel O'Neal; her in-laws, Rev. Coody Tiger and Lela McNac Tiger; her daughter, Kellie Ann Tiger Gunn; her brothers-in-law, Kenneth Tiger and Martin Dean Tiger; and her nephew, Darryl Tiger.

Caroline's life testament was her consistently demonstrating love, compassion, and empathy to those around her. Her unwavering faith and positive outlook on life were a source of inspiration to all who knew her.
Caroline's legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness, generosity, and grace. Caroline's life was indeed an inspiring message, and her memory will be cherished by her family and friends for generations to come.

In celebration of Caroline's life, we remember the love, joy, and laughter she brought to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Wake Service is scheduled for 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Yardeka Indian Baptist Church.

Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Yardeka Indian Baptist Church with Reverend Alfred Harley and Reverend Fred Lowe officiating. Burial will follow the service at Yardeka Indian Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chebon Tiger, Chris Tiger, Dominque Mendoza, Jess Waterdown, Jr., Teodoro Olea, Jr., Topley Powell and Tyler Crenshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Emmanuel Fry, River Landsdale, Willie Wind, Daniel Wind and J.R. Wind.
