Charles Edward "Bud" Sims a resident of Hitchita, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at his home at the age of 87. Bud was born to Charles Madison Sims & Minnie May (Sessions) Sims on May 14, 1924. He attended New Life Church in Checotah, among his hobbies and qualities include hunting, fishing, noodling, gardening (so he could give fresh produce to friends and family), he was an outstanding mathematician, and a very generous person. Bud served in the US MARINE CORPS during World War II being honorably discharged in 1946. He married the love of his life Wanda Mae Sparks on June 1, 1946 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, they shared a wonderful 64 years of marriage. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wanda Mae Sims, brother, Ray Sims, brother, Johnny Sims, sister Audry Nitcher, brother, Paul Hamm, great-great granddaughter, Ali Boyer. Bud is survived by his 4 children, Jerry Joe Sims & wife Luella of Hulbert, Oklahoma, Glenna Leafty & husband Richard of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma, Colleen King & husband Vic Noel King of the home, and Joyce Williams & husband J.K. Williams, 6 grandchildren, Charles Sims of Hulbert, Oklahoma, Renae Childers & husband Don of Hulbert, Lawanda Finch & husband Tony of San Antonio, Texas, Terry Leafty of Odessa, Texas, Jawanda Neal & husband James of Altus, Oklahoma, and Shelly Crossland of Jenks, Oklahoma, 20 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, sister, Glenn Crumpler of Midwest City, Oklahoma, sister, Margaret Hamm, brother Joe Sparks & wife Mary of Hitchita, Oklahoma, as well as host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Terry Leafty, Terry Sparks, Charlie Sims, Tony Finch, Robert Crossland, and Gary Leafty. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Childers, Jimmy Hamm, and JR Hamm. Visitation and viewing will be from 9am - 8pm on Saturday, May 21 and from noon to 8 pm on Sunday, May 22 at Integrity Funeral Service. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hitchita School Gymnasium with Rev. Wayne Patton. Interment will be at Lackey Cemetery in Hitchita under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Military honors will be conducted by the US Marines and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
