Charles Edward Summers 1940 - 2012 Charles Edward Summers, a longtime resident of Henryetta, passed away on December 25, 2012 in Henryetta at the age of 72. Charles was born on October 22, 1940 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Otis Summers and Virginia Louise Crawford Summers. Charles grew up in Henryetta and attended Henryetta Public Schools, where he graduated from Henryetta High School. He later attended Oklahoma State Tech where he studied printing. Following his OSU training, Charles worked at Brown Printing Company for approximately 15 years. Charles proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1979 to 1999 and retired with 20 years of faithful service in 1999. He was an active member in the Elks Lodge in Okmulgee where he served as a Past Exalted Ruler of the lodge. Charles also served his community by serving as a substitute teacher in both Henryetta and Wilson Public Schools systems. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher. Charles loved the time he spent with his family and especially enjoyed time he spent with his step-son Larry. Charles is preceded in death by his mother and father; his sister, Dorothy; and his brothers, Johnny and Gene Summers. He is survived by his wife Robbie Summers of the home; by a son, Charles E. Summers, Jr. of Henryetta; 2 grandsons, Dillon Franklin and Nathan Franklin of the home in Henryetta; by six step-children, Darrell Andrews, Larry Andrews of Schulter, Loresa Foster and husband Eddie of Schulter, Frankie Mayhar and husband Allen of Eufaula, Ricky Andrews and wife Ronnia of Schulter, and Randy Andrews and wife Laronda of Henryetta; his brother, Russell Summers; and by 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; as well as many other extended family and many good friends. The family will greet friends at Integrity Funeral Service on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 6pm until 8pm. A funeral service for Charles will be held at 10AM on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Shurden Chapel with Rev. Sharla Stephenson officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
