Charles Clifton Vaughn, a resident of Okemah, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 71. He was born June 26, 1943 in Poteau, OK to Glen Basil Vaughn & Hazel Virginia (Burt) Vaughn. He married Pat Moore on May 25, 1963 in Dewar, Oklahoma. Charles served the United States during the Vietnam War in the US Army from 1966 - 1968. He loved and enjoyed family. He was an avid hunter and loved going to Wister deer camp. He had a calling, when he saw someone in need he stopped and helped. Many asked him why do you to that, he would always say, "There are no strangers in this world, just people you haven't met yet". He was an excellent daddy, a loving husband, and the world's greatest Papa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Hazel Vaughn, grandson, Dillian Keith, and two brothers, Earnest Vaughn and Tony Joe Vaughn. Charles is survived by his wife, Pat Vaughn of the home, three daughters, Becky Brown of Okemah, Kim Vaughn of Okemah, and Shelly O'Neal & husband Tracy of Okemah, 5 grandchildren, Jeremy Keith & wife Jordan of Oklahoma City, Boogie Brown of Okemah, Brandi Brown of Okemah, Ryker Brown of Okemah, and Mattie O'Neal of Okemah, great grandson Charlie Keith of Oklahoma City, three sisters, Carolyn Peavler & husband Joe of Henryetta, Beth Winn of Henryetta, and Anna Williams & husband Hank of Graham, 5 brothers, Glen Vaughn & wife Debbie of Hoffman, Jerry Vaughn & wife Savil of Henryetta, Howard Vaughn & wife Cheri of Weleetka, Roger Vaughn of Guyman, and David Vaughn & wife Dorothy of Henryetta, brother-in-law, Charlie Moore & wife marilyn of Choctaw, 4 sister-in-laws, Betty Nunn of Kileen, Texas, Lilly Brooks of Henryetta, Edna Henry of Sapulpa, and Shirley Bray & husband James of Webbers Falls, one uncle, Percy Vaughn & wife Fern of Newton, Kansas, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Travis Griffith, Glen Vaughn, Jerry Vaughn, Howard Vaughn, Roger Vaughn, and David Vaughn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeremy Keith, Boogie Brown, Vern Zink, Yates Adcock, Tracy O'Neal, Coey Vaughn, and Chad Vaughn. Viewing will be from 5-8pm on Saturday, November 15 and from 12pm-8pm on Sunday November 16 at Integrity Funeral Service. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Monday, November 17, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Dewar with Rev. Dale Huckabay, officiating, Eulogy will be read by Rev. Doug Johnson. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery with military honors conducted by the US Army. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta.
