Charley Walter Burney

C.W. "Kink" Burney, longtime resident of the Hoffman area, passed from this life on Sunday, November 9, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 78. Kink was born on July 2, 1935 in Hoffman, Oklahoma to Charles Pierce Burney and Beulah Lindley Burney. Kink grew up in the Hoffman area. Kink married the love of his life, Nancy Marie Rafiner on June 23, 1954 in Louisville, Kentucky. He worked the majority of his adult life as an elevator installer and repairman. He worked for several companies including Westinghouse and Otis Elevator. Kink retired from Otis Elevator in 1976 after many years with the company. He also worked for Ramco Engineering for approximately 10 years. Kink was an accomplished turkey shooter and horse trader, He loved noodling, fishing, and time spent at the lake with his family. Kink was such a unique character who loved entertaining his family with four wheeling, jet skiing, horseback riding, and more. His love of life, giving and caring for many, will continue in the heart of those who truly knew and loved him. He will forever live in our cowboy hall of fame. Kink is preceded in death by both his mother and father; and by five brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife Nancy Burney of the home; a son, Bo Burney and wife Debbie of Louisville, KY; three daughters, Cindy Logsdon and husband Tony of Louisville, KY, Tasha Hill and husband Dustin of Little Rock, AR; and Cheree Barnes and husband Travis of Tulsa, OK; six grandchildren, Brandon Logsdon, Tiffany Logsdon, Cheyenne Burney, Lila Barnes, Colt Hill and Mason Barnes; two great grandchildren, Brayden Logsdon and Audrey Logsdon; two sisters, Joan Lindley of Okmulgee and Ethel Owen of Nixa, Missouri; four brothers, Dude Burney of Hoffman, Pete Burney of Hoffman, Hooty Burney of Hoffman, and Lulu Burney of Midwest City, OK; by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous other extended family, and many good friends. Viewing and visitation will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Sunday from 4pm until 8pm and on Monday from 8am until 8pm. A funeral service for Kink will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 2:00pm at Hoffman Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Vance officiating. Interment will follow immediate at Hoffman Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Roger Harding, Al Davis, Tony Logsdon, Bo Burney, Dustin Hill, Travis Barnes, Hooty Burney, and Lulu Burney. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don McCubbin, Tommy Sessions, Randy Lee, and Billy Lindley. The family has designated The American Diabetes Assn, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 and/or the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, 1700 NE 63rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73111 as appropriate for memorial contributions.
