Christine Lynn King-Hicks

December 14, 1969 — June 21, 2023

Christine Lynn King, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on June 21, 2023, at the age of 53. Born on December 14, 1969, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Christine was the cherished daughter of Wilson and Wanda King. She was known for her kind, funny, and loving nature, which she shared generously with her family and friends throughout her life.

Christine was a proud and dedicated employee of the Creek Nation Indian Health Clinic, where she worked as a medical assistant. She was passionate about her work and committed to providing the best care possible for her patients. Christine's educational journey began at Ryal and Graham schools, and she later attended Bacone College, where she furthered her knowledge and skills in the medical field.

On January 22, 2022, Christine married her "Chiweenie," Charlie Hicks, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Christine's hobbies included floating the river, fishing, and camping at ceremonial grounds. However, her favorite pastime was spending time with her beloved grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and happiness. She always had a funny story to share about them, especially Trae'den and his wisdom.

Christine is preceded in death by: her parents, Wanda (West) and Wilson Gene King, two brothers, Wilson Lee King Jr., Bobby Gene King and brother-in-law Frank Bemore.

Christine is survived by her devoted husband, Charlie Hicks; her three children, Trenton Barnoski and wife Shasta of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Creighton Barnoski and Helea Factor of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and Byron Barnoski of Henryetta, Oklahoma; her siblings, Linda Bemore of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, JoAnn Harjo and Steve Wind of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Allen King of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Dewaynea King of Morris, Oklahoma, Lisa Sands and husband Clifford of Okemah, Oklahoma, Jimmy King and wife Dana of Weleetka, Oklahoma, and sister-in-law Karen King. Christine was also a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren, a special aunt to her nephew Scotty King, and a loving relative to a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. Christine's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and laughter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. As we remember Christine, let us celebrate her life and the joy she brought to those around her.
