Cleon Coy Threet, a resident of Afton, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Friday, January 29, 2016 in Henryetta, Oklahoma at the age of 78. Cleon was born on January 26, 1938 in Oktaha, Oklahoma to Elmer Threet and Ruby Talyon. Cleon grew up near Checotah, Oklahoma, attended Checotah Public schools where he was a math and science honor student. Growing up, Cleon and his twin brother, Leon were inseparable. Following high school, he later attended Bakersfield College and then graduated from college at Foothill College with a degree in mechanical engineering. Just of out college, Cleon went to work for Lockheed in California, where he worked as a draftsman and engineer for approximately 10 years. He later worked for 21 years as a draftsman for Kerr McGee, Hughes Tool, and for Colburn Optical in Muskogee. Cleon was a longtime song leader and deacon at the Checotah Church of Christ where he faithfully attended. Cleon served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after four years of service. He loved to remodel homes, was an accomplished builder and carpenter, and loved to invent things. He was a loving son, father, uncle and grandfather, and he will be loved and remembered by his family and good friends. Cleon is preceded in death by his mother and father; three brothers, Athel Threet, Virgil Threet, and Eulos Threet; and a sister, Mary Alley. He is survived by his wife, Fay Norris of the home in Afton; his twin brother, Leon Threet of Texas; a brother, a son, Jody Threet and wife Shelly of Camby, OR; two daughters, Tami Frost of Henryetta and Cristi Threet and husband Clint Kenneda of Henryetta; by three grandchildren, Blake Frost, Alex Threet, and Chris Luce; two great grandsons, Blaine Frost and Braxton Frost; the mother of his children and ex-wife, Dortha Cox Threet of Henryetta; and a step-daughter, Sharri MeKelvey of Checotah; other extended family and many good friends. A graveside memorial service for Cleon will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 2:00pm at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah with Rex Walcher officiating. Interment will follow immediately under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. Those in attendence will be invited to join the family at a reception immediately following at the Checotah Church of Christ for refreshments.
