Curtis Ray Britt, a longtime resident of Dewar, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, March 13, 2015 at the age of 64. Curtis was born on December 13, 1950 in Henryetta, OK to Charlie Monroe Britt and Ishmael Jones Britt. Curtis grew up in and around Henryetta, and graduated from high school. After high school, Curtis joined the U.S. Army and served for two years while he was stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Curtis returned home and went to work in the oilfield. He worked as a deckhand and pumper for Bill Wadley Drilling in Okmulgee for approximately ten years. He later joined Green Country Vo-Tech where he worked as a custodian and bus driver. Curtis loved to fish and work on old cars. He was loved by his entire family and will be missed greatly. He is preceded in death by his mother and father; his sister, Lillie Shockley; brothers, Charles Britt, Jr., Jackie Leon Britt, and Kenneth Britt; and a sister, Mary McCarroll. Curtis is survived by his son, Devin Britt and wife Dalena of Checotah; a sister, Linda Burney of Dewar; 4 brothers, William Britt and wife Betty of Hoffman, Ira Britt and wife Carolyn of Dewar, Johnny Britt & wife Drucilla, Donald Fred "Duke" Britt and wife Anna Bell of Dewar; five grandchildren, Halle Britt, Maci Britt, Addie Britt, Chloie Durrett, and Wyatt Durrett; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family and many good friends. Viewing for Curtis will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 10am to 5pm at Integrity Funeral Service. A funeral service for Curtis will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 2:00pm at Hoffman Baptist Church with Rev. Duke Britt officiating. Interment will follow at Hoffman Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Mark McCarroll, Mike McCarroll, Lloyd McCarroll Jr., Terry Stanton, Landon Jefferson, and Mark Beaver. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Smith, Louis Bible, Raymond Dean Hammer, Gary McGowin, and the nephews of Curtis Britt. The family has designated the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, as appropriate for memorial contributions.
