Danny Roger Kennedy, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Monday, July 09, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 63. He was born December 18, 1948 in Henryetta, OK to Johnnie C. Kennedy & Inez (Rogers) Kennedy.Danny served in the United States Army National Guard and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Danny married Valorie Jean Kelough on February 9, 1968 in Henryetta. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dewar where he serves as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He graduated from High-school in Wilson, Oklahoma and from college at East Central University with a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling. Danny's career included teaching at Dustin, Wilson, Henryetta, Ryal, Preston, and Okmulgee Public Schools & Alternative School. He was principal, counselor and coach in basketball, football, track, and baseball. He also serves as guidance counselor for the Oklahoma State Penitentiary at McAlester. Danny is survived by his wife, Valorie Kennedy of the home, 2 children, Kim Soweka & husband Jason of Wilson, Renea Lehmkuhl & husband Darrick of Henryetta, 7 grandchildren, Lacy Whittmer, Jesey Whittmer, Kaci Elfar & husband M. J., Brittney Lehmkuhl, Will Lehmkuhl, Barden Williams, and Bailey Lehmkuhl, 8 stepgrandchildren, 2 sisters, Terresa Snow of Pampa, Texas, Donna Vance & husband Jack of Henryetta, One brother, Mike Kennedy & wife Anne of Perry, Oklahoma, As well as a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Jerry Henderson, Ricky Duncan, Leon Haden, Jason Soweka, Darrick Lehmkuhl, Kenneth Billbe, and Tony Lehmkuhl. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Dewar First Baptist Church as well as John Whitfield, Jarrett Kelough, and Roger Michael Kelough. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, July 12th, 2012 at Dewar First Baptist Church, 507 W. 6th, Dewar with Rev. Jack Vance, officiating and Rev. Mike Odell, assisting. Interment will follow at Salt Creek Cemetery in Wilson under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
