Darrell Kent Smith

Darrell Kent Smith, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday evening, March 15th, 2013 at the age of 55. Darrell was born on September 8, 1957 in Henryetta, Oklahoma, Oklahoma to Troy Edward Smith and Helen L. Day Smith. Darrell grew up in Tulsa and attended school there. After high school, Darrell joined the U.S. Army where he served for several years before his honorable discharge. After military service, Darrell returned to Tulsa and received his Heat and Air Technician's certification. He went on to work as a heat and air technician for several years. Darrell loved classic rock music, cook-outs with family and friends, and camping. Darrell loved music and attending concerts. But most of all Darrell loved his family. Darrell is preceded in death by his mother and father; and one brother, Michael Smith. He is survived by his life partner, Paula Sue Heinsohn of the home in Okmulgee; by Paula's children, Ashley Nicole Rist and Matthew Wayne Rist, both of the home; 2 daughters, Erin Heck and husband Earl of Copperas Cove, TX and Amber Dearman of Okmulgee; 7 grandchildren, Lauren Heck and Lindsay Heck of Copperas Cove, TX, Korey Dearman, Autumn Dearman, Hanna Dearman, Macee Dearman, and Madelyn Dearman all of Okmulgee; 1 brother, Gary Joe Smith and wife Linda of Tulsa; 1 sister, Cheryl Ritchie and husband John of Tulsa; several nieces and nephews, and many good friends. A committal service for Darrell will be held later this week at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. A date and time will be announced as soon as the information is available.
