Darryl Dion Tiger age 37 of Okmulgee, OK, passed from this life at 3:42 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017 at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, OK surrounded amongst loved ones. Darryl was born on July 31, 1980 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital to parents Amelia F. Scott Brown and Kenneth "Jag" Tiger. He was baptized at Yardeka Indian Baptist Church where he attended church.
Darryl was a "2000" graduate of Wetumka High School, Wetumka, OK and entered the U.S. Army as an Infantryman on February 16, 2003. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and an Army Service Ribbon, served two tours during Operation Iraqi Freedom as a sniper, and was honorably discharged April 30, 2007. Darryl was a dedicated member and served as Jr. Vice Commander of VFW Post 1189 in Okmulgee, OK. He was an avid sports fan and die-hard Sooner Fan.
Survivors include his children Dominic, Jason, and Isabella Tiger, of Okmulgee; brother Jesse Brown & wife Lynn of Bixby; brother Robert Brown of Okmulgee; sister Tracy Brown of Okmulgee; sister Brenda Holuby and husband Joe of Morris; nephews Salvador Brown, Daniel Long, Robert Brown Jr, and Isaiah Brown; Stepsisters Angie Culley of Tulsa, Pamela Culley of Wilson, Sammy Sanders and wife Kendra of Okmulgee, & Polly Sanders of Tulsa; Stepbrothers Patrick Berryhill of Okemah, Virgil Sanders Jr and wife Missy of Okmulgee, T.J. Sanders of Okmulgee, Nick Sanders of Okmulgee, & Brian Sanders of Okmulgee; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents & daughter Graciella Mao-Lani Mathews-Tiger.
Services will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Yardeka Indian Baptist Church in Henryetta, Oklahoma with Reverends Matt Tiger & J.B. Fish officiating. A wake service will Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. at the church and a potluck dinner served after. The family would like everyone to wear OU attire for the wake if possible. Burial will be in the Yardeka Cemetary with Traditional Creek Ceremony under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta, OK. Casketbearers will be Shayne Houlihan, Mike Thompson, Thomas Short, & Flynn Broady (all of whom serviced next to Specialist Tiger in Operation Iraqi Freedom), as well as Alan Snow & Brandon Brown. Honorary Casketbearers will be Tommy Grayson Jr, Mason McLellan, Kaleb Brown, Terry Fisk, Virgil Sanders Jr, Brian Sanders, Greg Berryhill, & Nick Morgan.
