Dewey T. Hill, a long-time resident of Lamar, Oklahoma passed from this life on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Oklahoma City at the age of 65. He was born on March 5, 1948 in Cromwell, Oklahoma to Tony E. Hill and Irene Simmer Hill. Dewey attended Jones Academy in Hartshorne, OK and later graduated from Bearden High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 and was honorably discharged after two years of faithful service. He had worked throughout his adult life as a heavy equipment operator. Dewey enjoyed fishing, hunting, mowing grass at the church, and spending time with all his family. He especially enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and as Santa Claus for the Christmas holidays. He was loved by his family and was a good friend to many people. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, William Hill, Louie Hill, and J.D Hill; and by his sisters, Emma Jones and Juanita Barnett. He is survived by his loving wife and partner, Josephine McGirt; a son, Sabin Givens of Alex City, Alabama; two daughters, Shannon Thompson Shields of Tulsa and Rosanna Deere of Sasakwa; two stepsons, Greg Miller of Ardmore and Nickolas Miller of Oklahoma City; a step-daughter, Nicole Miller of Wetumka; and by 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; He also leaves behind three brothers, Stoney Hill, Bill Hill, and Toby Hill, all of Okemah; three sisters, Mallie, Christine and Wanda, all of Okmulgee; one aunt, Edith Harjo of Cromwell; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and many good friends. Viewing will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 11am until 3:30pm. A wake service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00pm at Middle Creek #1 Church in Lamar. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 1:30pm at Middle Creek #1 Church in Lamar with Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. J.B. Fish officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Hill-Simmer Cemetery near Cromwell, Oklahoma under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Tyler Hill, Adam Hill, Cruz Hill, Robert Coffey, Mike Coon, Mose Lindsey, Tyler Bible, and Greg Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Speedy Harjo, Tiny Hale, Leo Moppin, Jerome Hill, Norman Hill, Joseph Shields, and Nicholas Miller.
