Dorothy Jean Burtnett, a former Eufaula and Okemah resident, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 89 years. Dorothy was born on July 11, 1921 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Alfred Morrow and Marsey (Smith) Morrow. She grew up in the Okemah area and attended schools at Pharoah Public Schools. She graduated from Pharoah High School. After high school, Dorothy attended college in Durant, Oklahoma. She later married Kelly Leon Burtnett in 1941 in Okemah, Oklahoma. After they were married Dorothy and her husband lived in California for a brief period of time, then moved back to Seminole, OK. Eventually, Dorothy and her family moved to Kansas where her sons grew up and attended school. After her husband's retirement from the oil business they moved to Okemah and later to Eufaula where they shared many happy years together. Dorothy spent many years in the cosmetics and clothing retail industry. After her husband's death, Dorothy moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2003. She is preceded in death by her husband, both her father and her mother, 1 sister, and 7 brothers. Dorothy is survived by two sons, Tom Burtnett of Las Vegas, Nevada and Leon Burtnett of Missouri City, Texas; by 3 grandchildren, Kyle Burtnett, Ryan Burtnett Fisher, and Brooke Burtnett; and by three great grandchildren. Viewing and visitation will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Thursday, December 2 from 3pm to 8pm and Friday from 8am until noon. Graveside funeral services will be held in Okemah's Highland Cemetery on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 2:00pm with Rev. Wayne Swinford officiating. Interment will follow the service immediately.
