Dorothy Lee "Grandma" Fixico, 83, Olustee, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. The Fixico family will greet friends on Wednesday, August 21, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Kincannon Gathering Room. A wake will be held on Thursday at 7:30 pm at the Prairie Springs Indian Baptist Church in Okemah, OK. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday at the Prairie Springs Indian Baptist Church in Okemah with Pastor Richard Fixico officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Integrity Funeral Service, Henryetta. Local arrangements are under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home. Dorothy was born on August 26, 1929 to Daniel Edward and Mable Irene Harjo in Okemah, OK. Dorothy and Taylor Fixico were united in marriage on June 7, 1945 in Okemah, OK. To this union eight children were born. Dorothy was a cook at the Southside School and the Southside Daycare. Her most gratifying job was being a homemaker. She was an avid sports fan. She loved quilting, puzzle books, and watching Monday night wrestling. Her favorite times were being surrounded by family and friends. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ted Harjo. a sister, Helen Anderson, a granddaughter, Lauren Avila, and a daughter-in-law, Lue Deana Fixico. She is survived by her husband, Taylor, of the home; her children, Skeet Fixico of Altus, OK, Linda Fixico of Altus, OK, Nelda Avila and husband, Bob, of Altus, OK, Lois Joblin and husband, Mike, of Olustee, OK, Charles Fixico and wife, Judy, of Lawton, OK, Debora Johnson and husband, Deporter, of Altus, OK, Steven Todd Fixico of Olustee, OK and Marcus Fixico of Olustee, OK; 26 grandchildren including Dawn Cupps, Kelley Fixico, Eagle Fixico, Legia Fixico, Landon Fixico, Lyndale Fixico, Bobby Avila, Alyssa Massie, Lori Moss, Patricia Bishop, Dee Johnson, Katheryn Bishop, Charles Bishop, James Bishop, Dee Johnson, Delia McKeaver, Dean Johnson, Jaime Renee Fixico, Steven Wayne Fixico and Kaley Shawn Fixico; 44 great grandchildren; two sisters, Kepsey Fixico of Lawrence, KS and Sylvia Fay Baker and husband, Jerry, of Wetumka, OK; and a brother, John Harjo of Ada, OK.
