Douglas Keith Brown

August 10, 1953 — August 25, 2019

Douglas Keith Brown was born August 10, 1953 in Okmulgee, OK to parents Odie
Ray Brown and Wanda Vance Wilber. He left this life on Sunday August 25th, 2019 in
Claremore, Oklahoma. Doug was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle,
nephew and cousin.

A proud veteran, he joined the US Navy right out of high school and spent several
years serving his country before being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and
retiring from the service.

In his civilian life he loved to sing and was known to participate in karaoke
whenever the chance presented itself. He enjoyed fishing, watching old western
movies and quiet moments where he could reflect on the things that mattered most
in his life.

The last few years of his life were spent at the Veterans Center in Claremore. Here
he was affectionately known as “The Pizza Man.” Each day he would order two
pizzas of which he would eat only two slices. When asked why he ordered two pizzas
he said the rest was to share with the nurses and his fellow patients. He was well
loved by the staff and patients at the Veterans Center. Everyone knew his name and
would speak to him as he zipped through the halls on his little hot rod scooter. So
many kind words have been extended from those who knew him at the Center since
his passing.

Doug loved his sports – especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He was so excited that his
dad recently moved to the Veterans Center where they could enjoy each other’s
company and watch a Cardinals game together. His other sports love was the
Oklahoma Sooners. He was a huge fan, except when they were playing OSU and in
honor of his two OSU daughters he would claim to be a “Cowboy” for the day.

He truly loved his family and was so proud to be Dad to Angela, David, Allison and
Jordan and Grandfather to Eric, Lily and Parker. He honored his parents and would
do anything for them. He was a friend to all with a heart of gold.
Doug is survived by his parents; a sister Judy Langwell and husband Tom; children
Angela Byars and husband Chris, David Brown and wife Paige, Allison Lloyd and
husband Christian, Jordan Brown and wife Jordan Brooke; grandchildren Eric Byars,
Lillian Byars and Parker Lloyd.
