Edwin Hershel Britt

Edwin Hershel "Bo" Britt, a longtime resident of the Dewar and Henryetta communities, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013 in Sallisaw at the age of 85. Bo was born on December 16, 1927 In Tiger Mountain, Oklahoma to William H. Britt and Minnie McNeil Britt. Bo grew up and attended school in Tiger Mountain. Bo joined the U.S. Army in 1945 and served until 1947 during the World War II era. After his honorable discharge from military service, he married Fannie Louise Smith. They remained happily married for 52 years until Louise's death in 1999. Bo later married Billie "Dot" Tucker on February 17, 2001 in Henryetta. Bo worked as a street department foreman for the City of Henryetta for many years. He also worked for approximately 11 1/2 years for John Zink in a manufacturing capacity. Above most things, Bo loved to fish. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening and farming as well. Bo is preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Smith Britt; his mother and father; a daughter, Aleta Britt Whittington; a grandson, Manuel D. Britt; a granddaughter, Alisha K. Britt; by 1 sister, Lucille Christenberry; and by 2 half-brothers, "Dub" Britt and Ray Britt. He is survived by his wife, Dot of the home in Henryetta; 3 sons, Mann Britt and wife Sheri of Beggs, Oklahoma, Vernon Britt and wife Yvette of Mounds, Oklahoma, and Ernie Britt and wife Diane of Coalton, Oklahoma, a daughter, Janie Britt Adams and husband Don of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; one brother, Bob Britt and wife Artie of Dewar; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; by numerous cousins, extended family, and many good friends. Viewing and visitation will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 from 5 until 8pm, and from 8am until 8pm on Tuesday. A funeral service for Bo will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 2:00pm at Abundant Life Pentecostal Church in Henryetta with Rev. Susie Stephens, Rev. Becky Watkins and Rev. Jack Vance officiating. Interment will follow immediately at New Sonora Cemetery , east of Henryetta under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Colt Britt, Kyle Britt, Gary Britt, Donald Adams, Will Barron, and Bobby Wooten. Honorary pallbearers are Pete Burney, Al Britt, Leon Elzy, Richard Robertson, Mickey Robertson, and Junior Ray Vaughn.
