Elaine Evans Durbin, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in Okmulgee at the age of 97. She was born December 14, 1920, to Coleman and Ethel Evans.
Elaine graduated from Dewar High School and then attended Tulsa Business College. At the beginning of World War II, she entered the workforce at Douglass Aviation to support the war effort. After the war ended, she then went to work for the U.S. Department of Defense where she was given top security clearance. She retired after a lifetime of working for the government in 1984.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dewar and a 50-year member of the Chapter 175 of the Order of The Eastern Star.
She is preceded in death by her parents; also her husband Frank W. Durbin after 73 years of marriage.
Survivors include her only child, Colleen Durbin-Jette;
two grandsons, Evan and Cole Jette; and many friends and cousins.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018, at 2 p.m.. at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. A reception and dinner will follow at the Okmulgee Elks Lodge.
