Elsie Mae Lowery 1935 - 2012 Elsie Mae Lowery, a longtime resident of the Henryetta area, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at her home in the Bryant community. Elsie was born on November 30, 1935 in Henryetta to Wylie Toney and Hattie Tiger Toney. Elsie grew up in the Henryetta area attending the Wyandotte and Seneca Indian Schools. She later graduated from high school at Chilocco Indian Boarding School in Chilocco, OK. Elsie was a devoted homemaker but also worked at the Big Smith sewing factory in Carthage, Missouri and at the sewing factory in Pharaoh. She was employeed as a provider in the home health business for several years, before serving as the head cook for Creek Nation in both Dewar and Wetumka. She retired from her Creek Nation position after approximately 3 years service. Elsie married Lee Allen Lowrey, Sr. on February 13, 1959 in Joplin, Missouri. They remained married until his death in September of 2000. She is preceded in death by both her mother and father; by three sisters and 3 brothers; and by her husband, Lee Allen Lowery, Sr. Elsie is survived by 3 sons, Allen Lowrey of Henryetta, Michael Lowrey of Bryant, and Charles Lowery and wife Susan of Joplin, Missouri; by daughters Susie Corley of Henryetta and Cathy Johnson of Henryetta; by 2 nieces, Marceline Leach of Garrard, Kansas and Almira Peterson of Cleveland, OK; by a nephew Pewee Toney of Okmulgee, OK; by a very special friend, Pauline Counts of Henryetta; by 13 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren; numerous extended family and many good friends. Viewing and visitation for Elsie will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Thursday from 8am until 3:30pm. A Wake Service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2012 at the Northside Worship Center, 306 Robinson Highway in Henryetta from 6pm until 8pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2012 at 2:00pm the Northside Worship Center in Henryetta with Rev. Mitchell Taylor, Will Gordon, and Mark Smith officiating. Interment will follow immediately at the Lowery Family Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Gary Leach, Waylen Whitlow, Mike Kidwell, Eric McNac, Bobby Harjo, and Tarzan Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Harjo, Ricky Wilbourn, and Chris Stephens.
