Elsie Shaffer

Elsie Forrest-Shaffer fell asleep in God's watchful care on a Wednesday morning at 7:14 AM December 15th, 2021 at the age of 74. She was the cherished wife of Thor Shaffer for 28 years. She was a devoted mother to several cats who lived long cat lives with them in birth year order Blackie, Whistle, daughter Baby mother of Fredee & of Honey. She was noted as an inventive and excellent cook. She taught herself ice skating and helped young relatives learn it. She impressed all as a lover and connoisseur of purses. Various people who knew her in different ways were impressed with her that though quiet she was brave. At the end she faced her untreatable late stage cancer with determination and grace to help make her final weeks the best with God's clear real help a reasonable very best.

In her life married and before Elsie enjoyed walks in country and city, restaurants and going shopping. She loved TV shows like Dynasty and Hazel. She loved the movies of he Wolfman & Frankenstein and felt compassion for them. She loved the 1930's dance movies of Eleanor Powell. People who knew Elsie as someone with the deepest love for God throughout her life from growing up attending Nazarene services, later converting to Catholic and then later joining the 7th Day Adventist church existing in Henryetta back in 1992 where she met her husband. Although she always deeply regarded the contribution the Catholic faith had made to her life.

Elsie was preceded in death by a few weeks by her youngest sister Wanda Forrest and her father, Shorty Forrest.

She is survived by her husband Thor, her mother Pauline Forrest and her sisters Linda Lewis and Paula Jennings.

Viewing for Elsie will be on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. till 5:00 P.M. at Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Integrity Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dale Huckabay officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta, Oklahoma.
