Essie Loretta Archer, a pillar of her community and beloved teacher, passed away on the 20th of May, 2024. Born on the 3rd of December, 1939, in Hoffman, Oklahoma, she lived a life dedicated to family, faith, and education before bidding farewell at the age of 84 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Essie's life was rich with love and accomplishment. On the 12th of May, 1957, she united in marriage with Clyde Archer in Council Hill, a partnership that was blessed with devotion and joy. To their marriage was born five children, Clyde Marshall, Roni Sue, Doni Kaye, Martin Lee and Mark Ashley. Martin preceded them in death in November of 1983. Survived by her four children: Marshall Archer and his wife Julie, Roni Archer, Doni Archer Hinton, Gary Hinton, and Mark Archer with his wife Teresa. Her legacy grew as she was proudly surrounded by a flourish of grandchildren - Brooke, Charlotte, Kendal, Erin Lynn, Dalton, Addylee, Dresden, Martina, Billy, Michelle, and Michael - who then had children of their own. Essie's joy multiplied with the advent of her great-grandchildren: Cayden, Mason, Zack, Lilly, Alivia, Tyler, Michael, Carissa, Ella, Landon, Bailey, Lackey Clyde, Matthias, Marshall, Clyde James, Chase, Elisabeth, Josie, Kyson, Kenason, and Karson, each of whom brought a unique light into her world.
Beyond her immediate family, Essie's life was further enriched by her sister Phillis Ryal Clark, her sister-in-law Betty Archer, and brothers-in-law Terry Archer with his wife Ann, Bob Martin with wife Jackie, and Doug Ryal. Her sisters-in-law, Patricia Lester and husband Mike, Sue Ashley, and Loletta Ashley, held special places in her life, as did a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.
Essie's dedication to education was evident through her distinguished career. After earning her degree in education, she spent seven years imparting knowledge to the young minds at Dewar Public Schools, followed by another twenty-five years at Mounds Public Schools before retirement. Her impact as an educator left an indelible mark on countless students.
As a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Mounds, Essie's spiritual life was characterized by service and engagement. Her faith guided her in every aspect of her life and inspired those around her.
While she now joins in heaven her late husband Clyde, her son Martin, parents Gilbert MarshaLL "Pat" and Lusetter Ashley, in-laws Clyde and Bernice Archer and her siblings Floyd, Roy, Gilbert Clyde, Grace, Virginia, and Josie, Essie Loretta Archer's remarkable story and the wisdom she imparted will forever echo in the lives she touched. Her departure leaves behind a legacy of love, knowledge, and unwavering faith that will continue to shape the world for generations to come.
Viewing for Essie will be from 5-8 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2024 and from 1-8 p.m., Sunday, May 26th, 2024. There will be no viewing on Memorial Day at the request of the family.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 28th, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Mounds with Rev. Don Cook, Jr. of Sand Springs, officiating.
Graveside service is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Tuesday in Lackey Cemetery in Hitchita under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
