Evelyn Victoria Quinton

Evelyn Victoria Quinton, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 84. Evelyn was born on October 14, 1928 in rural McIntosh County, Oklahoma to Henry Clay Haynes and Nicey Jacobs Haynes. Evelyn grew up in the Henryetta area. She attended Ryal school as a young girl. Evelyn married the love of her life, Leroy Quinton, on January 29, 1952. They remained happily married for 33 years until his death in 1985. Evelyn was a certified nurses aid and worked for over 15 years at Lake Drive Nursing Home in Henryetta. She retired from Lake Drive in 1991 at age 71. Evelyn always referred to the many residents at Lake Drive Nursing Home as "her kids" and she had a very special attachment to the residents there. Evelyn was always known for her parting comments after a visit with anyone saying, "I love you". She made everyone feel loved and her loving spirit remains an inspiration to her family. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Leroy who died March 14, 1985; by her mother and father; a son,Bobby Gene Quinton; 2 brothers, James "Sonny" Haynes and Norman Haynes; a step-father, Oscar Long; a son-in-law, Terry Quinton; and two sisters-in-law, Sue Haynes and Roxie Haynes. She is survived by 3 sons, Norman Cummings and wife Teresa of Bixby, Jerry Quinton and Gary Quinton, both of Henryetta; by 5 daughters, Mickey Romine and husband Jerry of Claremore, Nancy Dye and husband Rudy of Oklahoma City, Brenda Sanders and husband Glenn of Henryetta, Rhonda Crandell and husband Calvin of Henryetta, and Mary Howard and husband Rob of Okmulgee; by 20 grandchildren , 26 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren; by two sisters, Lu Crofut of Okmulgee and Pauline Forrest of Henryetta; by one step sister Pauline Counts; by 4 brothers, Bill Haynes and wife Delores of Seminole, Elmer Haynes of Seminole, Vernon Haynes and Hoover Haynes both of Arizona; by many nieces, nephews, other extended family and many good friends. A funeral service for Evelyn will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Dewar with Rev. Jack Vance and Rev. Steve Treagesser officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. Pallbearers will be the grandsons of Evelyn Quinton. Viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 29 from 11am until 8pm at Integrity Funeral Service.
