Everett Alfred Crandell, a longtime resident of Henryetta passed away peacefully on January 2 at the age of 86. He was born January 21, 1931 in Wilson to Roy & Ruby (Hayden) Crandell. He married Betty Smock on January 10, 1950. The would have celebrated 68 years of marriage this month.
He graduated from Henryetta High School in 1948. After a brief career in the glass industry and time spent ranching and trading, he followed his dream of competing as a rodeo cowboy.
That dream led him across the U.S. and his success earned him the title of 1966 All Around Cowboy and 1965 and 1966 Steer Wrestling World Champion.
He is survived by his wife Betty; his daughters, Marie Mason, Scarlet Crawford and husband Dusty; his son Calvin Crandell and wife Rhonda.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Stacey Horton and husband Dale; Shane Crawford; Laura Russell and husband Brian; Dusti Lynn Stotler and husband Jim; Roy Travis Crandell; and Leta Crandell.
Adoring their "Papa" were also 10 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a brother, Tommy Crandell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters and two infant daughters. Also his friend and son-in-law John Mason.
Viewing for Everett will be on Saturday from 5-8pm and Sunday noon until 8pm and Monday from 8am until noon.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 8, 2018 at Dewar First Baptist Church with Pastor Brett Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie peters, Mike Bailey, Bud Keesee, Jim Qualls and Howard Edmundson.
