Fannie Mae Johnson

Fannie Mae Johnson, a resident of Okemah, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at her home in Okemah at the age of 82. Fannie was born in Hanna, Oklahoma on August 29, 1931 to Yuna Harjo and Louisa Lee Tiger Harjo. Fannnie grew up in the Hanna, Oklahoma area and lived in the Hanna area until 1953. Fannie married the love of her life, Cecil Johnson before the couple moved to California in 1954. They lived in California for the next 60 years in the communities of Harbor City and Southgate, amongst others. The Johnson's moved back to Oklahoma in 2004. Fannie loved sports, especially baseball and basketball. She and Cecil actually both continued to participate in these sports until they were both well into their 60's. She loved watching sports and spending time with her beloved family. Fannie is preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, Cecil Johnson who died August 3, 2011; by five brothers and one sister; and by three of her children, Don Wayne Johnson, Marri Sue Johnson, and Mitchell Yuna Johnson. She is survived by her five daughters, Shirley Carvajal and husband Karl of Southgate, CA, Esther Marie Hernandez of Los Angeles, CA, Angie Ruth Johnson of Fresno, CA, Cecilia Rose Johnson of Okemah, and Louise Lee Johnson of Montebello, CA; a son, Benjamin Isaac Johnson of Henryetta; two brothers, Sundea Harjo of Texas and Albert Harjo of Oklahoma City, OK: 22 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; and numerous other extended family and many good friends. A funeral service for Fannie will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Integrity Chapel with Johnny Hicks and Malcolm Tiger officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Powell Family Cemetery near Wetumka, Oklahoma under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
