Frances June Payne

Shurden Funeral Home 411 West Division Street Henryetta, OK 74437 (918) Fax (918) 652-4451 Frances June Payne better known as "Sis" to family and friends was born April 28, 1939 to Lura and Elda Treat in Lenna, OK. She lost her battle with cancer on Sunday, January 13, 2013. She is survived by husband Don Payne of the home; daughter, Teresa Lawrence and husband Paul of Yukon; daughter, Lisa Wolfe and husband Michael of Tulsa; two sons, Stacy and Sturlin Pearce of Henryetta, and step-son, Jim Payne and wife Cheryl of Bethany two sisters, Fay Tabor of Dustin and Foye Layman of Hanna, several nieces and nephews, special friends, Jennifer, Bob, and Mickey Williams. as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by grandson Justin Lawrence from Yukon. She started to school in the first grade at Lenna. They lived 4 miles from school and back in those days there were no school buses so Sis along with her brother rode a horse the 4 miles to the two room school house. The horses were stacked out all day then rode home again after school each day. She graduated from 8th grade at Raiford, another two room school. She finished her school years at Hanna. She quit school after completing 11th grade, got married in 1956, and had her first child in 1957 at the age of 18. They started a married life in California where their 1st child was born. They followed seasonal job for several years, but finally settled in Henryetta. Sis started working in the health field in the mid 70's as an aide in a nursing home, working nights and weekends. She went back to nursing school and got her nursing license after her kids were grown. She worked 4 years at Henryetta Medical Center and 10 years at Anchor Glass container, and several years at various nursing homes in Henryetta and Pawhuska. Sis enjoyed playing pool, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, and quilting. Pallbearers will be, Paul Lawrence, Sturlin Pearce, James Payne, Wesley Hudson, Curtis Matthis, and Michael Wolfe. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 15th, 2013 at Shurden Chapel, 411 W. Division Street, Henryetta with Chaplain Victoria Bonat, officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.
