Frank Harjo, 80, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, was called to his eternal resting place on Saturday, June 18, 2022 in Muskogee Oklahoma. Father grandfather, brother, uncle, born to Freeman and Nancy Mae Harjo on December 17, 1941.
Frank served in the US Army from 1960-1977 where he received several National Defense Service Medals 4th award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. During his service he lived in Germany, Korea, Vietnam, Virginia, and South Carolina.
He really enjoyed spending time talking and laughing with friends. He especially enjoyed speaking Mvskoke Language and singing Creek hymns. He loved playing softball, volleyball, basketball and “networking”. All of us that were fortunate to know him, know he lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed every day and is exactly what he would want us to do.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Nancy Mae Harjo; brothers, Jim Harjo, Mitchell Harjo, Freeman (Chebon) Harjo Jr. and sister Rachel Kingfisher, wife Rita Bennett, son Ryan Harjo.
Frank is survived by his five daughters, Nancy Harjo Serna (Larry) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Juanita Sterling of St. Louis, Missouri, Sandra Muskogee Oklahoma, Eloise Muskogee Oklahoma, Valerie Faulks (Tyrone) of Muskogee Oklahoma, son Jack Bennett (Yolanda) of Henryetta Oklahoma, son Josh Harjo of Oktaha, Oklahoma; sister Norma Chalakee of Humble, Texas; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Viewing for Frank will be on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 1:00 PM till 3:00 PM at Integrity Funeral Service. Wake services will be at Hickory Ground #1 at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Hickory Ground #1 with Reverend Mitchell Taylor and Wallace Gambler officiating.
Pallbearers will be Joel Sterling, Zackary Sterling, John Freeman, Tyrone Fauoks, Nicholas Pigeon and Austin Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Harjo, Larry Serna, Christopher Nephew, Garrett Harjo, Jordan Harjo and Julian Proctor.
