Gary Lee Butler

Gary Lee Butler, a resident of Tulsa, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011 in Tulsa at the age of 69. Gary was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma on May 16, 1941 to Ferman Samuel Butler and Verna Marie Trammell Butler. Gary was married on June 18, 1967 in San Leandro, California to Joan G. Pierce. Gary served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Viet Nam conflict. After his military service, he worked for Southwestern Bell as a phone technician and retired after 39 years of service. He is preceded in death by both his mother and father; 2 sisters, Betty Jo Butler and Verda Jean Butler; and a niece, Karie Marie Bates. Gary is survived by his wife, Joan Butler of the home; his 3 children, Joyce Butler Moore, Brian Butler, and Teresa Marler and husband Jeremy, all of Tulsa; 5 grandchildren, Alex Butler and wife Victoria of Hawaii, Andrea Moore of Tulsa, Cynthia Moore of Tulsa, Andrew Butler of Tulsa, and Arilynn Marler of Tulsa; 3 great grandchildren, Xanthus Butler of Hawaii, Nyx Butler of Hawaii, and Nova Butler of Hawaii; and 1 sister, Donna Bates and husband Lloyd of Wetumka. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Bates, Andrew Butler, Jeremy Marler, Chris Marler, Randy Butler, and Travis Dugan. Funeral Services have been scheduled for Friday, April 22, 2011 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Henryetta with Rev. Dale Durnell officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
