Gene Anthony O'Connor, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, went to be with his precious Saviour, on Friday, October 11, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gene was born on October 21, 1953 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Jack Wittman and Bernice Inez Bell Wittman. Gene grew up in Montclair, California and attended school there. He studied for several years at Westark Community College. Gene also served several years in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam conflict. He was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee. He loved fishing and was a professional pool player. Gene loved animals and was especially happy when sharing or reading the word of God. Gene was married to Lynn Alvis on December 4, 2009 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Gene is preceded in death by his mother and father; a daughter, Brenda Jean O'Connor; and two sisters, Eva Yvonne Wittman and Sandra Sue Wittman. He is survived by his wife, Lynn O'Connor of the home in Okmulgee; sons, Christopher O'Connor of Lafayette, LA, Folice Anthony O'Connor in Tulsa, Timothy O'Connor of Tulsa, David O'Connor in Okmulgee, and Michael Doris of Bluffton, SC; daughters, Elizabeth O'Connor Riley of Okmulgee, Lisa O'Connor of Okmulgee and Jennifer O'Connor of Texas; by 24 grandchildren; by two brothers, David Lee O'Connor of Lawton and Marty Wittman of Okmulgee; by five sisters, Ruby Ann Knight of Hardeeville, SC, Jackie Lynn Wittman of Hardeevile, SC, Anna Lou O'Connor of Longview, TX, Melody Wittman of Tulsa, and Mary Mosiman of Ridgeland, SC; by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and many good friends. A memorial service for Gene will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2:00pm at the First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee with Pastor Raymond Doke officiating. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
