Geneva V. Foehner 1913-2012 Geneva V. Foehner, a Henryetta resident and former resident of Wichita Falls, TX, passed from this life on Monday evening, June 18, 2012 in an Okmulgee nursing home at the age of 98. Geneva was born on August 22, 1913 in Ashdown, Arkansas to Claude Prather and Catherine Ward Prather. She spent the first five years of her life in Arkansas. Then, at age 5, she moved to Oklahoma with her family in a covered wagon in 1918. She attended school in the Henryetta area, then moved to Florida for several years. She moved to Wichita Falls, TX where she lived for over 30 years. She married Alvin Foehner in Texas and they were married for approximately 15 years. Geneva was a homemaker but was mostly known as an avid quiltmaker. She also loved sewing, crocheting, and reading. She was an accomplished cook and was recognized, especially among her family, as an especially gifted cook. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Foehner; by her mother and father; by 3 sisters, Katie Harris, Lucille Scott, and Juanita Prather; and by 2 brothers, Arthur Prather and Glenn Prather. Geneva is survived by two sons, Thomas Foehner and wife Nelda of Henryetta and Buzzy Foehner and wife Mary of Florida; by a sister, Edwina Fox of Wichita Falls, TX; and by a brother, Bill Prather and wife Norma of Odessa, TX; by 8 grandchildren, Bryan, Kay, Chris, Brenda, David, Rhonda, Johnny, and Becky; and numerous great grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and many good friends. A memorial service for Geneva will be held at a later date. The family has designated Quilts of Valor Foundation, P.O. Box 1003, Seaford, DE 19973-1003 as appropriate for memorial contributions.
