Georgia "Boots" Spradley

August 22, 1932 — August 6, 2020

Georgia Yvonne “Boots" Spradley
(nee Virden), homemaker, transitioned peacefully at age 87 to her eternal home on the
morning of Thursday, August 6, 2020.

Georgia was born on August 22,1932, in Warner, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of five children
born to Lola and George Marion Virden.

Only her closest confidants knew that she was crowned Warner High School Carnival Queen by Robert Reed of "The Brady Bunch" fame. Robert played the role of the father, Mike Brady. It was, however, James Richard Spradley who captured her heart and she would marry in the fall of 1948.

She attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah after completing high school. She taught
Head Start and occasionally did some substitute teaching in the public school system. It was in her job as a meat wrapper at the local grocery store where she made the acquaintances of so many of the
area residents. Ultimately, it was in homemaking that she found her niche.

Georgia loved reading--specially the Holy Bible--baking, gardening, playing Dominoes, and fishing with
her husband. She enjoyed immensely visiting with neighbors and time spent with her grandchildren.

After becoming a widow, Georgia taught a women's Sunday School class for many years, studying
numerous hours each week in preparation to teach the lessons. She also loved to sing the classic
hymns, whether in the church choir or while preparing a meal in her kitchen.

An avid grower of African Violets, her plants were on display at the Okmulgee Public Library and in her
kitchen garden window.

In her latter years, she enjoyed "dressing" her Quad Cane, often decorating it to reflect the season
or coordinating it with her weekly church attire. Even more, she enjoyed the conversations that
ensued with friends as well as strangers about her novelty cane.

Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, siblings William D. Virden, J.K. ”Bud" Virden, Violet Chase, and
Katie Yelverton; twin nephews Don and Ron Yelverton, and niece Linda Paschal, along with husband James
Richard Spradley and grandson Quinton Spradley.

Mrs. Spradley leaves behind three children: Michael Spradley of Sand Springs, Michelle Spradley of Tulsa,
and Rickey Spradley of Collinsville, as well as daughters-in-law Kimberly Ford Spradley and Sherri
Weigand Spradley. Grandchildren include Stacy Brown Duncan and husband Chad of Sapulpa, Danielle
Kapple of Tulsa, Austin Spradley and wife Jackie of Owasso, and Evan Spradley and wife Kelsey of
Sapulpa. Great grandchildren include Destry, Justice, Kingston, twins Boston and Shiloh, and their
cousins Josylyn, Ledgen, Linxton, and Karley.

The desire of her heart was to see all people--especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren--loving and serving the Lord and ultimately be united with them for eternity.
