Geralea Joyce Russell

Geralea Joyce Russell, a cherished resident of rural Henryetta, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on March 17, 1941, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, she was the beloved daughter of Robert "Bob" Prather and Virginia Reich Prather. Geralea married the love of her life, Curtis Lee Russell, on May 27, 1959, in Carrizozo, New Mexico, and together they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and shared passions.

A devoted member of Dewar First Baptist Church, Geralea's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was also a former member of the Okmulgee Circle Squares, reflecting her love for community and connection. Known for her adventurous spirit, she found great joy in trail riding, camping, and her deep affection for horses. These pursuits were emblematic of her vibrant personality and love for the outdoors.

Geralea was preceded in death by her father, Bob Prather; her mother, Virginia Lueveno; and her sister, Rebecca Moore. Her legacy of love and strength lives on in her devoted husband of 65 years, Curtis Lee Russell, and their children: Robert Russell and wife LaRae of Tiger Mountain, Oklahoma; Doug Russell and wife Susan of Lawton, Oklahoma; Valerie Rider and husband Bret of Alva, Oklahoma; and Michael Russell and wife Rhonda of Blanchard, Oklahoma and sister Deborah Moore of Washington State. She is also lovingly remembered by her 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of extended family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Geralea's life during a visitation on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Integrity Chapel, with her family present to greet visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM, also at Integrity Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Reed officiating. Interment will follow at New Sonora Cemetery in Henryetta.

Pallbearers honoring her memory include Chris Roberts, Brik McGuffin, Levi Shipley, C.D. "Curt" Russell, Farron Russell, and Brandon Russell. Honorary pallbearers include Jonathan Russell, Tripp Cole, Tayte McGuffin, Aiden Roberts, Cooper Roberts, Rider Shipley, Benjamin Roberts, Lincoln Oakley, Chandler Oakley, Kash Shipley, Camden Oakley, Phoenix Oakley, Jordan Oakley, Dee Russell, Jimbo Kidwell, James Henry Russell, Dink Langston, Daniel LeFlore, Joe Dobbs, and J.T. Root.

Geralea's life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to her family, her steadfast faith, and her boundless love for nature. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her but leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories. Services are under the care and direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
