Gertrude Lee Cellier, a longtime resident of Henryetta passed away Sunday, October 4th, 2020 in Oklahoma City at the age of 90. She was born March 17th, 1930 in Wetumka to R. L. Williams and Eunice (Nutt) Williams. She married Emile Cellier June 9th, 1951 in Van Buren, Arkansas.
Known to most every as "Gertie", she was renowned for her work as a seamstress. She could just look at something and plan it out in her head and sew it. She was an excellent cake and cookie decorator making cakes for any occasion. She was an artist and an avid and expert gardener as well as well-known as an accomplished florist working for many years in floral shops in Henryetta.
She was a Girl Scout Troup Leader and worked with the youth department at First Baptist Church in Henryetta and cooked at Falls Creek for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Emile Cellier, three brothers, Jerry Williams, Robert Williams, & Charlie Williams. Also, by one sister, Violet Lee Wright.
Gertie is survived by two daughters, Peggy Tipton & husband Steve of Shawnee;
Penny Townley & husband Curtis of Newcastle;
Two grandchildren, Matt Tipton & wife Brook of Oklahoma City;
Michelle Hankins & husband Garrett of Newcastle;
Two great grandchildren, Noah & Bella Hankins;
Also, by a host of friends and other relatives.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 9th, 2020 at the Pavilion at Wetumka Cemetery with Rev. Curtis Townley officiating. Interment will follow under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
As a precaution and in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, masks will be required to attend the service. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own lawn chair for their comfort during the service. Additional chairs will not be furnished.
