Glendon Leo Akins, Sr.

Glendon Leo Akins, Sr., a longtime resident of the Coalton community passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012 in Tulsa at the age of 91. Glen was born June 5, 1921 in Quinton, Oklahoma to Richard Akins & Minnie (Walker) Akins. Glen was a veteran of WWII serving with the United States Army. He married Theresa E. Macaluso June 13, 1942 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Minnie Akins, also by one son Carl Akins. He is survived his wife of seventy years, Theresa E. Akins of the home; Two sons: Glendon L. Akins, Jr., and wife Donna of Jacksonville, Florida; Bill Akins & wife Robin of Glenpool; Six Grandchildren; Fourteen great-grandchildren; Two great-great grandchildren; One sister, Verlene Orum of Henryetta; Three brothers, Robert Akins of Houston, Texas; Jerry Akins & wife Kay of Cushing; Jim Akins & wife Debbie of Jenks; Also by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. Mass of Resurrection is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Peter Phung, officiating. Entombment will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, 51st & Memorial, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Services are entrusted to Integrity Funeral Service.
