Glenn Ray Gold was a lifelong resident of Henryetta, born on December 22, 1944. He was the only child born to Annis Floyd and Effie May (Heckendorn) Gold. He completed their blended family along with his older brothers, James Gold, Bob Conger and Joe Conger.
Glenn attended Henryetta Public Schools and graduated from Henryetta High in 1962. He had a love for all animals, especially horses and dogs. He worked as a construction lineman for Southwestern Bell Telephone and retired after 30 years of service. After retirement, he delivered propane for several years for Sewell Propane Company in Okmulgee.
In 1965, he married Donna Kaye Potter. Together they had 3 children who survive him - son Floyd Gold and his wife Melanie, daughter Delena Donathan and her husband Jason, and son Jason Gold and his wife Loretta. Glenn and Donna's union paved the way for the future generations of 8 beautiful grandchildren and 3 precious great-grandchildren ... and counting.
He met Diana Lashmet through their church, and they married in 2010 in a little ceremony at their home in Dewar. Their 14th wedding anniversary is just a few weeks away.
Glenn was known around town for his redneck ingenuity. He loved to tell stories about his days at Bell Telephone to anyone that would listen and the mischief that he and the Likowski brothers would find themselves in.
Throughout Glenn's life, he had so many close calls that you'd think that he had 9 lives. He survived a broken neck, a gunshot wound, more than one telephone pole snapping while he was perched on top, prostate cancer, COPD and Congestive Heart Failure. But in the end, he suffered a massive stroke on August 2nd and passed away on Sunday, August 18th.
