Harles James Underwood, a longtime resident of Schulter, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at his home in Schulter at the age of 91. Harles was born on April 9, 1927 in Colton, Oklahoma to Joe S. Underwood and Hattie Green Underwood.
Harles grew up in the Schulter area. Following his high school years Harles attended Okmulgee Tech for further studies. Harles worked most of his adult life as an aircraft mechanic. He worked for over 9 years at Douglas Aircraft and later worked for 28 years with Rockwell International before his retirement. He married the love of his life, Judy Dale Huckaba on May 6, 1957 in Walker County, Georgia. They remained happily married for 50 years until Judy's death in 2007. Harles was an accomplished woodworker and a gifted musician, playing guitar and steel guitar in several of his own bands. He loved to fish and enjoyed the outdoors. Above all, Harles loved his family. He was a caring son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and he will be missed by his many family members and friends.
Harles is preceded in death by both his mother and father; a brother, Debs Underwood, a brother, Dee Underwood; a sister, Jackie Thornberg; a sister, Belle Hunter; a sister, Evelyn Crawford and his wife, Judy Underwood.
He is survived by his two sons, Glen Underwood and wife Mavis of Schulter and Timothy Underwood and wife Sheri of Tulsa; a sister, Beulah Jones of Pawnee; five grandchildren, Jennifer M. Underwood Edwards, Jonathan Logan Underwood, David Michael Underwood, Dondrea Littlefield, and Andrea Thomas; great grandchildren, Jack Edwards, Brianna Edwards, Kia Edwards, Josh Underwood, Ella Underwood, Kristen Littlefield, Desiree Littlefield, Ayden Thomas and Noah Thomas; by other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing for Harles will be held from 2pm-8pm on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta
A funeral service for Harles will be held at 10:00am on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Jarrod Dumond officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Salt Creek Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army.
Pallbearers will be David Underwood, Logan Underwood, Tim Underwood, Glen Underwood, Jason Littlefield, Jason Edwards, and David Mollett.
