Harley D. Ponnequin, a longtime Henryetta resident passed away at his home on Sunday, July 6, 2014 in Henryetta at the age of 83. Harley was born on November 14, 1930 in Coalton, Oklahoma to Harley Harlow Ponnequin and Resser Huffman Ponnequin. He grew up in the Henryetta area and lived here most of his life. Harley spent two years in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean conflict. Harley married Dora Ellen Emery on February 14, 1952 in Henryetta. They remained married until her death in 1983. Harley spent approximately 30 years working in steel companies where he was employed as an electrical maintenance technician. After his retirement, he worked as a self-employed farmer/rancher in the Henryetta area. Harley loved to fish and be outdoors. Harley is preceded in death by his wife, Dora who died November 18, 1983; both his mother and father; a daughter, Teresa Louise Wray who died on November 11, 2012; and a grandson, Gary Wray. He is survived by 2 sons, Harley Dean Ponnequin and James Leonard Ponnequin, both of Broken Arrow; three grandsons, Mark Wray & wife Debbie, James L. Ponnequin, Jr., and Jason Ponnequin & wife Monica; a granddaughter-in-law, Kama Wray; a sister, Ruby Brakey of Henryetta; eight great grandchildren, Ashley Wray, Dylan Wray, Hayland Wray, Hayley Wray, Holly Wray, Reese Wray, Heidi Wray, and Havanna Wray; other extended family and friends. A private interment was provided at New Sonora Cemetery on Thursday, July 10, 2014 under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
