Helen Marie Walker, a longtime Henryetta area resident, passed away on January 12th, 2014 in Tulsa at the age of 77. She was born on August 15, 1936 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to George Walker and Mary Taylor Walker. Helen grew up in the Henryetta area and attended Yardeka School as a youngster. She worked for approximately a year for the Creek Nation Youth Program. Helen also worked for approximately a year as a custodian for Ryal School. She was baptized at age 12 at Hickory Ground #1 where she was also a member. Helen later made a real impression on her friends as an accomplished and prize-winning cook, making many meals and dishes for area church dinners and family gatherings. She loved to cook and work crossword puzzles. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family and many friends. She was preceded in death by both her mother and father and her 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Cloud and husband David of Henryetta; her son, Elliot Walker and wife Diane of Henryetta; five grandchildren, Jake Walker of Wilson, Aron Walker of Henryetta, Jarrod Shipley of Henryetta, Justin Simmons of Salem, and Debra Simmons of Henryetta; by several great grandchildren and special adopted children; by a special adopted daughter and good friend, Bonnie Soweka of Henryetta; and by numerous other extended family and many good friends. Viewing will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 15, 2013 from 5pm-8pm. A funeral service for Helen will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2013 at 2:00pm in the Chapel at Integrity Funeral Service with Rev. Walter Taylor and Rev. John Wayne Tulsa officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Soweka Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Justin Simmons, Harry Tulsa, Norman Asbury, Galen Cloud, James Morgan, and Jake Walker. The honorary pallbearers are Mark Sumka, David Cloud, Billy Cloud, James Shipley, and Walter Pigeon.
