Henry Louis Harjo, Jr., a longtime resident of Henryetta, passed from this life on Friday, August 15, 2014 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 62. Henry was born on November 17, 1951 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Henry Louis Harjo Sr and Christine Berryhill Harjo. Henry grew up and attended school in Midwest City, Oklahoma where he graduated from Carl Albert High School. He later attended Rose State College in Midwest City and then finished his college education at Oklahoma Weslyn University where he received he Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Henry was also a certified Master Farm and Land Appraiser, a distinction he earned in 1987. Henry was employed by Kialegee Tribal Town as the Environmental Protection Agency manager. Henry served in U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division for 6 years, beginning in 1970 until his honorable discharge in 1976. He loved all things outdoors, attending ball games with his sons, and was proud of his military service history. He is preceded in death by his mother and his father. Henry is survived by three sons, Jeffery Harjo of South Carolina, Cameron Harjo and Daniel Harjo, both of Jennings, OK; by one grandchild; 3 brothers, Freeland Ray Harjo and wife Sharon of Okmulgee, Adam Harjo and wife Rose of Henryetta, and David Harjo and wife Valerie of Kapaa, Hawaii; 3 sisters, Geneva B. Harjo of Henryetta, Margaret Harjo Corbin and husband Steve of Midwest City, and Cynthia Harjo of Okmulgee; a fiancee, Dorla Tartsah of Anadarko, OK; numerous nieces and nephews, other extended family, and many good friends. A wake service will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Forest Creek MIssion Church in Wilson from 6:30pm until 8:00pm. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Berryhill Family Cemetery in Wilson at 2:00pm with Rev. Wallace Gambler officiating. Services have been entrusted to Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Paul B. Harjo, Thomas B. Harjo, Sam B. Harjo Jr, Austin Harjo, Rayne Harjo, Forrest Corbin, and Stuart Corbin. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Harjo Jr and Wayne Carpitzher.
