Henry Amos Rutherford, a longtime resident of Dustin, passed from this life on Monday, September 9, 2013 in Okmulgee at the age of 93. Henry was born on September 7, 1920 in California to Ward Rutherford and Mary Wilson Rutherford. Henry was a proud graduate of Fresno State University where he received his college degree. Following college, Henry spent some time as an educator teaching history. He later served as an Elementary principal in California. He later became involved in the grocery business and owned and operated two grocery stores in Selma California and Laton, California. Henry was a member of the Elks Lodge in Hanford, California. He attended the Assembly of God church in Weleetka. Henry loved to play dominoes and was an avid gardener. Henry married Leola Mae Masengale on July 4, 1963 in Carson City, Nevada. They remained married and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Henry is preceded in death by his mother and father; a son, Rodney Rutherford who died in 1978; and by four brothers, Edgar Rutherford, Alvin Rutherford, John Rutherford, and Leroy Rutherford. He is survived by his wife, Leola Mae Rutherford of the home in Dustin; 2 brothers, Ernie Rutherford and wife Ethel of Fresno, California and Gene Rutherford and wife Rose of Placentia, California; a brother-in-law, Charles Masengale and wife Dona of Yukon; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Crawford of Edmond, Peggy Mannschreck & husband Phillip of Rochiada, New Mexico, Pat McKinney of Dustin, and Kay Mulliniks & husband Bill of Jacksonville, Florida; a brother-in-law, Melvin Masengale and wife Vera of Mustang; by numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. Funeral Services are set for Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Integrity Chapel with Pam and Ron Wymore officiating. Interment will be at Dustin Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Mason, Robert Hutchins, Charles Sparks and Jim Sparks. Viewing will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 5-8pm and Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 8am to 8pm.
