Herbert Edward Monks

d. April 16, 2016

Herbert Edward Monks was born on September 16, 1942 to Hardie & Effie May (Burden) Monks. His father, Hardy Monks, was a Pentecostal preacher and his mother, Effie May Burden Monks, who had nine children who all made it to adulthood, placed Herbert right in the center. Both parents preceded him in death and were already in heaven waiting to welcome him. Earlier Hardy & Effie lost their son Dewayne and daughters Pauline and Joyce leaving Herbert's surviving sisters Wanda and Ramona as well as his brothers Clem, Everett and Don. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Judith Ann Wilkey. They had four children Terrell, Nathaniel, Rhonda and Chris; in that order. Herb and Judy have eight grandchildren Brandon, Riley, Pamela, Coleman, Carrie, Max and Anastasia. There are already seven great grandkids: Audrey, Dylan, Noah, Kinley, Hannah, Eleanor and Theo. This large family also includes his Russian daughter in laws Tatiana and Valerie, and grand-children in-law Tabitha and Randy. Sorely missed is son in-law Jim Dennis. Herbert also had fifty to one hundred nieces and nephews; half of whom still believe his name is Uncle Bo. He was a minister and he spent over 35 years ministering to whoever he might be able to help. He impacted the lives of a multitude of souls; some with a path to Christ and others with his Chirst-like generosity in his lifelong quest to lift the fallen and to help the hurting. He attended Calvary Christian Center which is pastored by Son-In-The-Kingdom, Pastor Paul Sharp. Last week he was at the leadership meeting led by Pastor Jason Sharp. Herbert stood up and described hi passion for the ministry of helping the hurting. Immediately upon finishing, he sat down with his wife, placed his head on her shoulder and joined his savior in paradise.
