Hubert Lee Bass, suddenly passed away at his home in Dewar, Oklahoma on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the age of 67. Born January 3, 1944 in Wright County, Missouri to James Hubert and Pearlie May(Kelley) Bass, he was known in his childhood years as "Herbert Lee". Later while serving in the United States Army and stationed in Munich, Germany, an army official told him he didn't look like a "Hubert" and henceforth gave him the name "Sam" which stayed with him throughout the remainder of his life.
Hard work was just second nature to Sam. He is well known for his many various fix it skills. He spent 30 years of his life working in a Glass House, approximately 17 of which were spent at Anchor Glass in Henryetta, Oklahoma. It was during this time that he met and married his wife Carlotta Jane Maxwell on November 30, 1988. Together they built their home, raised their family, and built his business, Sam Bass Transport. After his retirement he currently was working with Raymond Padgett Construction Company.
He always said if he wasn't working he was playing. As a family they enjoyed vacationing and working on various projects around the house. An avid outdoorsman, Sam loved to cut wood, go 4-wheeling, and work in his garden. He was a proud member for 38 years of BMW Motorcycle Owners of America and the NRA.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, mother, and by two brothers Burl and Dale Bass.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janey of the home in Dewar.

These simple, straightforward words sum up the life of Sam Bass, loved by many and respected by all.
