Ida Mae Miller

Ida Mae Miller passed away February 27, 2020 at the age of 94 years, 10 months and 20 days.

Ida was the daughter of Myrtle Murphy Russell Hall and Adam Wiley Hall, born on April 7, 1925 in
Muskogee, Oklahoma. She started school at Salley Brown, a one room school house with her siblings on her 5th birthday, later to Howard Chapel School and moved to the Hitchita School in 2nd grade where she continued till her marriage on Februray 14, 1942 to the love of her life, Sanferd H. Miller in Henryetta, Ok. She loved school and enjoyed learning all her life. Later in life, she celebrated earning her GED.

As a farm wife, she and Sanferd raised four children; Larry Sanferd Miller, Glenda Karen York, Timothy Norman Miller and Vaughn Melton Miller, also caring for numerous relatives in their home. Ida served as the song leader and Sunday School teacher at Hitchita Baptist Church before moving to Elm Grove Baptist Church as a family in 1969. At Elm Grove, Ida served as a teacher and choir member. Ida and Sanferd were extremely proud of their children and grandchildren supporting and celebrating their accomplishments.

Named farm family of the year for McIntosh County in 1964, Ida worked in the field with her husband, preserved fruits and vegetables for her family and excelled in needlework for her home and gifts for her family. Ida worked at White Stag in Checotah starting in 1961, taking a break for children, and returning till retirement in 1989. She also worked as the Assistant Postmaster at Hitchita and the Election Board Hitchita Precinct.

Ida was preceded in death by her Parents and Siblings, Husband, Sanferd Harding Miller; Son, Larry
Sanferd Miller and Daughter, Glenda Karen York.

Survived by her Daughter-In-Law, Kaye Miller of Amarillo, Texas; Son-In-Law, John York of Oktaha, Oklahoma; Son and Daughter-In-Law, Tim and Margaret Miller of Council Hill, Oklahoma; Son and Daughter-In-Law, Vaughn and Dena Miller of Checotah, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Allen and April York of Oktaha, Oklahoma; Cindy Miller of Burleson, Texas; Justin and Cory Miller of Canyon, Texas; Shellie and Bron Howard of Headrick, Oklahoma; Aubrey and Katie York of Fayetteville, Arkansas; David and Ann Miller of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Spencer Miller of Yukon, Oklahoma; Colin Miller of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Zachary Ilbery of Edmond, Oklahoma; also 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

No visitation is scheduled

Memorial Services will be conducted at 2:00pm, Sunday March 8th, 2020 at Council Hill Baptist Church, Council Hill, OK.
