Jackie "Jack" Quinton Smith, a longtime resident of Tahlequah, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, May 7, 2015 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 68. Jack was born on November 30, 1946 in Miami, Oklahoma to Doran Smith and Cecelia Harrison Smith. A proud native American, Jack was a member of the Cherokee/Shawnee tribe. Jack grew up in Miami and attended Miami Public Schools. Jack joined the U.S. Army and served for several years. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Jack rejoined the military with the U.S. Navy and proudly served once again, including a tour of duty in Viet Nam. Jack was injured while serving with the Navy and was discharged after several years of service. Utilizing skills he had learned in the Navy, Jack worked in several positions in the Tulsa area as a welder and sandblaster, including time employed by Pro Quip of Tulsa. Jack was a member of the Carter Mountain Church where he was baptized and became a Christian. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He was also well known as a golden gloves boxer as a young man. Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father; a half-sister, Carolyn Sue Melton; and a half-brother, Bill Carpenter. He is survived by his daughter, Julia Dawn Jordan and husband Jody of Nowata, OK; a brother, Preston D. Smith and wife Mary of Wainwright, OK; nieces, Heather Carter and husband Lacy of Keys, OK, Shawna Smith of Morrison, OK, Kamisha Tuley, Kelly Sue Pachuta, and Rhonda Lucas; 3 nephews, Keith Carpenter and wife Karie of Sand Springs, OK, Darin Smith of Glenpool, and Larry Smith of Dewar; great nieces, Alie, Bree, Kayson, Elle, Hanah, Emma, and Lacey, all which lovingly call him "Uncle Jack"; two grandchildren; other extended family, and many good friends. Viewing for Jack will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 8am until 8pm. A funeral service for Jack will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 2:00pm at The New Life Center Church, 4025 Gibson Street, in Muskogee, Oklahoma with Bro. Loyd Kester and Bro. Philip Morris officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service immediately at Salt Creek Cemetery in the Wilson Community, near Henryetta, Oklahoma under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy. Pallbearers will be Scott Crawford, Brady Renfro, Larry Smith, Keith Carpenter, John Solano, and Stanton Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Scooter McBride, Rev. Duke Britt, Jim Webster, Rev. Darin Smith, Rev. Jerry Morris, Bob Copeland, Raymond Hammer, Deek Melton, Gary McGowin, and Bryant Johnson.
