James Andrew Keys, a beloved resident of Dustin, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 4, at the age of 80. He was born on March , 1944, in Cookson Hills, Oklahoma, to Leon Ross Keys and Ethel (McClellan) Keys.
James proudly served his country as a veteran of the Vietnam War, dedicating his life to the United States Army. His commitment to service extended beyond the military; he was also a respected karate instructor, imparting his knowledge and skills to countless students over the years. His contributions to martial arts earned him a rightful place in the martial arts hall of fame, a testament to his dedication and expertise.
In addition to his work as an instructor, James served as an auxiliary police officer in Okmulgee for several years, continuing his lifelong commitment to public service and safety.
James is preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Larry and William "Billy" Keys.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy Gail Keys, who shared their home, and his two sons: Bruce Keys and his wife Robin, of Dustin, and Jason Keys and his wife Jennifer, of Mississippi. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Cody Keys, Chelsea Marsden, Hannah Keys, and Emma Keys, and he is also survived by his sister, Regina, and his brother Jerry Keys, as well as a host of other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
Viewing for James will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Integrity Funeral Service, located at 410 East Trudgeon Street, Henryetta, Oklahoma. A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Susie Stephens. Following the service, James will be laid to rest at the Dustin Cemetery with military honors, honoring his service to the nation.
James Andrew Keys will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his country, and his community. He touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
