James Leray Morrow, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2014 in Okmulgee at the age of 64. James was born on July 1, 1950 in Sacramento, California to Harvey Lee Morrow and Catherine Macomber.
As a member of a military family, James grew up and lived in several different states while his father served in the U.S. Military. James graduated from college with a degree in Sociology and spent most of his adult life as an educator. After several years of teaching in Nevada, James moved to Okmulgee. He most recently worked as a counselor/educator at Boley Boys Home in Boley, Oklahoma. In addition to his teaching activities, James was also an accomplished jewelry artisan and enjoyed intricate bead work.
James is preceded in death by his father, Harvey Lee Morrow and a sister, Darlene Williams.
He is survived by his mother, Catherine Clatt of Okmugee; a sister, Linda Lee of Tulsa; two nephews, Richard Williams and wife Glenda of Okmulgee and Shane Lee and wife of Tulsa; two nieces, Lori Allen and husband Kenny of Mason, OK and Stacy McCormick and husband Shawn of Arkansas; two great nephews, Michael Williams and Matthew Williams of Okmulgee; a great niece, Megan Williams of Okmulgee; other extended family and many good friends.
Following cremation, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
