Shurden Funeral Home 411 West Division Street Henryetta, OK 74437 (918) 652-4461 Fax (918) 652-4451 James Albert Pierce, a resident of Dustin, passed away in Tulsa on Monday, May 28, 2012 at the age of 72. James was born on July 8, 1939 in Raiford, Oklahoma to Carter Pierce and Elizabeth Cordell Pierce. As a young boy, James moved from Raiford to Henryetta where he grew up. As a young man, James moved to Arizona and later to California, where he worked as a cropduster for several years. He later moved to Messquite, TX, where he remained until September, 2011 when he returned to Dustin to live. James was married to Velveta Lane on February 24, 1961 in Rockwall, Texas. He worked most of his life as a warehouseman and fork lift operator. He also worked in several different capacities in the oil field. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; by four brothers, Willie Pierce, Albert Pierce, Virgil Pierce, and Adam Pierce; and by 3 sisters, Sylvia, Frankie, and Berniece. James is survived by his wife Velveta, of the home in Dustin; by two sons, James Allen Pierce of Mesquite, TX and Stacy Lewis Pierce of Dustin; and by 8 grandchildren, Chris Pierce, Matt Pierce, Jonathan Pierce, Ashley Pierce, Heather Pierce, Steven Pierce, Amy Pierce and Kyle Pierce. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.
